Gareth Edwards
A Monmouthshire landscape park and garden as the setting for a Grade II listed Georgian Lodge, notable for its special architectural and historic interest. The CADW listing detailing “a handsome early C19 country house in the late Georgian style, within its own miniature park“. As such, the building and landscape’s architectural and historic significance has guided all work being undertaken on site. Significant architectural work has been undertaken at the property over the last decade, to the design of the Cardiff based buildings architects LOYN+CO
An on-going, long term project, the client brief was threefold. Firstly, regular garden maintenance for the garden, grounds and landscape. Secondly, specialist advice for the management, maintenance and creation of wildflower area in the wider landscape. Thirdly to take the garden forward with new design including planting schemes, garden rooms, woodland and shrubbery design, all linking together to create a coherent garden and landscape, creating a suitable setting for the Regency lodge and historic landscape park.
The setting of the regency lodge, idyllic Monmouthshire countryside, meadows, lakes & woodland were fundamental to the planting schemes Gareth and his team put in. The photos below a a few of the projects undertaken, with new paths and driveways, lawns, planting schemes, tree planting, vegetables and cut flowers.
